Just Cause 4: In-game Satirical Branding/Ads

Just Cause 4 is an action-adventure game developed by Avalanche Studios. It is the fourth game in the Just Cause series and is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The player assumes the role of series protagonist Rico Rodriguez as he battles his enemies in the fictional South American country of Solis, a world marked by conflict and oppression set against the backdrop of extreme climate shifts from snowy mountains to desert terrains.
To add even more depth and visual impact to the fictional South-American country Solis, I worked closely with the Avalanche Studios team to envision how to bring the country’s commercial and cultural landscape to life. I was tasked with communicating the consumer culture in Solis through satirical and dark advertising. In order to build the creative for these fictional brands, just as in real-life practice, I worked with the art director and narrative director to create identities and style guides that were authentic to the natures of the businesses and the underbelly world in which they operate. It was fulfilling to see the execution of these designs and the collective visual come together.
